How much does access control cost?
A standalone keypad or fob reader on a single door is a modest job; networked systems scale with the number of doors and the locking each one needs. What happens to access controlled doors if there is a fire or power cut?
Escape routes must stay escapable. We design systems so that doors on escape routes fail safe, releasing on a fire alarm signal or power failure, and we fit emergency break glass releases where required. Battery backup keeps the system running through short power cuts. Getting this interface right is one of the main reasons to use an installer who also works with fire alarm systems.
What happens when someone loses a fob or leaves the company?
You delete that fob or card from the system in seconds and it stops working immediately, without affecting anyone else. That is the biggest everyday advantage over keys: no locksmith, no lock changes, no wondering how many copies of a key exist. We show you how to manage users at handover, or we can manage it for you.
Can access control be fitted to existing doors?
Usually, yes. Most timber, aluminium and steel doors can be fitted with electric locking, a reader and an exit button without replacing the door. During the survey we check each door and its frame and confirm exactly what is needed. Fire doors are fitted with hardware that maintains their fire rating.
Is access control only for large businesses?
